ミゾキリって知ってる？

自分はこんな電動工具があるとは知らなかったけど、今回の板倉工法にはマストなツール。読んで字の如く”溝”を切る道具、加工できるのは敷居鴨居の溝だけじゃなく、相じゃくりや下の写真の凸凹の実加工に使う。

“Mizokiri” is the one of the most needed tools for this method of construction. Making ditches on pillars and windows as well as wall boards like the picture below.

セルフビルド用に買った工具は三つ、全部マキタでカクノミ7304、電気カンナ1911B、ミゾキリ3801。全てオークションで中古で購入、プレカットの時代だからこの手の工具は格安。それに大工道具は元々丈夫に出来てるのがありがたい。

I’ve got three tools for the project. “Mizokiri”, “Kakunomi” and “Kanna”, an electric plane. Got all three on a net auction. They’re old but durable and pretty cheap to buy nowadays.

カクノミはホゾ穴を開ける道具で一寸(30mm)の四角い穴を簡単に開けれて便利、ただ個人的には手間と時間はかかってもドリルと鑿で開ける方が好きだ。仕上がりも綺麗だし大工仕事してるって感覚になる、て事でホゾ穴をほぼ全部開けた後にオークションに出品して次のセルフビルだーの元へ！

“Kakunomi” is a combination of a drill and a chisel which can make a square hole easily. This saves a lot of time also accurate but I prefer doing it with a drill and a hand chisel. I could make it cleaner also feel like a carpenter.

電気カンナはそのまんま電動のカンナ、二枚の刃が回転して表面を仕上げてくれる。まあかける前よりは圧倒的に綺麗だが均一に仕上げるのは難しいけど、とても助かる道具だ。

An electric plane has two blades rotating to plane the surface. Which is really difficult to make it clean flat but better and faster than a hand plane.

オフグリッドのわが家では電気の容量に制限がある。メインバッテリーのG1200では種類によるが12Aまでの電動工具が使えた。ただ負荷がかかり過ぎると給電が止まるし、容量的に一日の作業にも制限が出来てしまう。父が発電機を持っているので借りてくる事も考えたが、今回はソーラーと人力だけで作る事にした。時間も手間も増えるが、遠くから運ばれてくる電気やガソリンを使わずに作れている事は気持ちが良いものである。これはオフグリッド生活をしてみないとわからない感覚だと思うので皆さんも半オフグリッドから始めてみませんか？

We’re on off grid so our electric capacity is limited. The main battery can hold 12A tools but no more. Mizokiri is 12A and  it works but if it gets too much load then the battery stops. Also I can use these electric tools for three to four hours at most with good weather. I could borrow a generator from my dad but I’m happy to do this without use of gas and long transported electricity. You may not understand this unless going off grid I guess.

最後に紹介したいのが図書館から借りたこの本、二間三間(12畳)の家の作り方が細かく載っている。著者の小笠原さんは自給農を始めるなら先ずは家を自分で建てる事を勧めている。家は女性でも子供でも建てれると提唱していて小屋作りのワークショップなどを無料で開催もしているらしい。小屋を建てたい人は是非参考にしてみてね。

This books title says building own home with $10,000. The author suggest to spend more than half of that money on tools so everyone could build it. He does a free workshop about how to build a house too. I get a lot of info from this book and love his spirit.
