あれ？あれれー！気温差が激しいテント環境だし、もう予定日を1日半過ぎてて諦めていた朝、卵に穴が！嘴打ちだ～

最初の嘴打ちから12～24時間で孵化が始まると絵本に書いてあった。

What?What!? I almost gave up waiting it to hatch. Because a lot of temperatures difference with our tent life. Also it was one and half day past the due date.

The real hatch starts 12 to 24hours later.

大きな変化は夕方まで無かったが、作業の合間にちょこちょこチェックしてると穴の中から嘴が動いてる姿かが見えた！

Well during the day the hole didn’t change much. But its bill came out and moving when I checked in the afternoon.

出てくるのが上手な子は中で回転しながら嘴で穴を開けて行くらしいが、この子はどうも上手く動けないらしく同じ体勢で突くばかり。見かねた親バカは少しだけ補助をする。

They rotate themselves and make holes half way around the egg usually. It seemed this one couldn’t do that. Well I’ll help you out then.

渓の甥っ子の柊ちゃんがピッピちゃんと命名してくれました。

Kei’s nephew, Shu named this chick “Pippi”.

孵化後二日経っても立てないピッピ、調べてみると脚の指が内側に曲がっているのとペーロシスと言われる左脚が股関節から外側に開いてる状態なのが分かった。ここから作業療法士渓の指示の元、ピッピと我らのリハビリ生活が始まった。

Pippi couldn’t walk or stand. I looked up about her symptoms and found out that she has perosis on her left hip joint. Also her fingers are curled up and couldn’t open by her will. Luckily Kei is an occupational therapist. By her suggestion we’ve started Pippi’s rehabilitation program. We can’t wait Pippi running around our garden.
