翌日は少し足を伸ばして湯原温泉郷へ。

ここにはなんと無料の混浴露天風呂。やはり大事なところはタオルで隠して入るようにという貼り紙があったけど、ちょっと前までは男女一緒にすっぽんぽんで普通に入ってたみたい。

江戸時代は男女混浴が当たり前だったのに、すっかり時代は変わりましたね～

雪が舞い散る中での露天風呂は外と湯の温度差が気持ちよく、なかなか良いものでした。

The next day we took them to Suna-yu, Yubara Hot Spring Village.

This place was once ranked to YOKOZUNA(best) of WEST. It’s out of date off course but Suna-Yu is fun place. It’s an outdoor mixed hot spring for free of charge. Now the sign says we need to hide our private places with towels. But onsen was originally mixed and no towels allowed to dip in.

It started snowing hard and that was the best!

さて、彼らの今回の旅の一番の目的はスノーボード。お目当ては新潟県の妙高と長野県の白馬。それ以外は特にノープランなふたり。

とりあえずヒッチハイクで東を目指したいとのことで、高速のサービスエリアで彼らを落としてヒッチハイクの行く末を見守った。

Well, Anna&Tuomas came to Japan for snowboarding in Myoko, Niigata then Hakuba, Nagano. Other than that they didn’t have plans for three weeks. So they want to go east by hitching. We stoped at a service area on expressway.

15分もしないうちに、60代くらいのご夫婦が「姫路までなら乗っけてってもいいわよ～」と声をかけてくれた。

乗用車だったので、巨大なスノーボードが載るか心配されたけど、トーマスとお父さんが協力しながらなんとか運転席と助手席の間に上手く載せることができ、無事にヒッチハイク成功！

フィンランドだったらスノーボードを見た時点でそんな大きいの載せられないから車に乗せてあげられないと言われるけど、日本人は試してみようとしてくれるから本当に親切と言っていたアナ。

みんながみんなという訳ではないけれど、こうして困っている人に対して見返りを求めずに手を差し伸べる人々の優しさや温かさっていいな～と心がほっこり。

アナとトーマス、我が家に遊びに来てくれてありがとう。

Less than 15min the old lady stopped to talk to them in Japanese. The problem was their snowboard pack didn’t seem to fit their car…Anna was saying that in Finland drivers wouldn’t stop if they were on a small car. But drivers here in Japan stop to try. I guess not everyone does that. But I felt good looking the people reaching to help them.
