我が家の洗濯機は洗濯板とタライ！

ソーラーで電気を自給している我が家の電力では洗濯機は使えない。

Our washing method is using a tab and washing board!

We don’t have enough power for a washing machine.

私の祖母に聞いたら私の父が生まれる頃までは洗濯は手洗いでしていたという。(60年前くらい) 洗濯機の出現に家事がすごく楽になったそう。そうだよね～

平成も終わろうとしているこの時代に孫の私は手洗い洗濯デビュー。

子どもの頃に洗濯板で靴下くらいは洗ったことあるけど、手洗い初心者の私はタライに入れた洗濯物を前に洗濯の仕方を教えてほしいと切に思った。

一体どうやって洗ったらいいの～？

ま、考えるより、行動あるのみ。

見よう見真似で洗ってみることに。

My grandma said it was about sixty years ago she got a washing machine. And it was a huge help for her.

Oh I just debuted washing clothes like my grandma was young.

I had an experience washing my socks with a tab and a board but that was it. So I froze in front of a pile of clothes in the tab…and thought I need to learn how.

Well i needed to wash them first and learn from the experience.

ペール缶でお湯を沸かして、

洗濯板でゴシゴシしてみたり、

Boiling water in a pail can and rub clothes on the board…

踏み洗いしてみたり。

汚れでお湯が濁り出した～

Stepping on them…

Oh the water became dirty so this was it?

洗ったあとに２回ほど濯ぐとお湯の濁りもなくなり、ギューっと絞って洗濯終了。キツく絞るのがこれまた大変。冬物だから余計にね。

あと、これでちゃんと洗えてるのかという謎が残る。こういう所を経験者に聞きたい。

２時間くらい洗濯してたかな。

はじめてのことだから洗ってる間は面白がってやってたけど、こんなこと毎日やってられない…

Water became clear after rinsing twice. Then wring them as strong as I could. Wringing is hard task especially with winter clothes. And that was it!

Still I was not sure if this made them clean? I’d love to hear from experts.

I spent two hours washing clothes.

It was fun for the first time. But I don’t think I could enjoy if it’s a daily thing…

これを毎朝していたであろう家族の多い昭和の主婦達。信じられない。

やってみたからわかる大変さとすごさ。ただただ尊敬する。

正直なところやらなくてもいいならやらないけど、手洗いをする中で洗濯機を使うために必要な電力のことや水の量、洗剤のことや服の素材のことなど、今まで洗濯機任せになっていて考えたこともなかったことが、自分ごとになってはじめて見えてきた。

これに気づけたことは嬉しい変化！

でも洗濯機って便利な道具だよね〜

洗濯機を持ちたいとは思わないけど、疲れ果てたらコインランドリーという選択肢もある。選択肢があるというのが昭和との大きな違い！文明に感謝。

ストレスにならない範囲でぼちぼちと〜

I can’t believe my grandma’s generation doing it with big family. I’d never realized if I haven’t try it. I admire who did it everyday in the past.

Honestly I wouldn’t do it. But I’m glad I did it.Because I learned a lot of things like how much water you use for the machine and how much power it spends. Also about detergent and clothes materials which I left them on a washing machine. This realization is precious to me.

I know I really know a washing machine is convenient. But I still don’t want it. Well if I got tired then there is a coin laundry. So it different from the past I can rely on technology sometimes hahaha.
