次の暮らしに備えて鉈と斧を中古で入手した。両方錆び錆び～

I’ve got an old hatchet and an axe for our life. Both were rusty all over.

先ずは斧の刃を止めている楔を抜くために周りに穴を開け隙間を作る。

First of all we needed to take out the wedges. So drilled it to loose.

持っている工具で二本打っていた楔を外す。

I had enough tools to do this. I love tools!

渓が楔を抜いている間に鉈の背の叩かれて出っ張った部分をヤスリで削る。

I worked on the hatchet shaving the back while Kei worked on the axe.

サンダーで全体の赤錆を落としていく。

Used sander to take the rust off.

凸凹でサンダーでは削れない部分は金ブラシで～

Used a wire brush to clean the rough surface.

表面の錆が落ちた鋼は表情があって美しい。新しいものを買えば手間も時間もかからないけどつまらない、今の自分たちにはこの手間こそが宝。古いものを再生して使うことの有難さを学べた日でした。

次のステップは科学の力を借りて細かい錆を落とすぞ～

I like this! The surface became shiny and beautiful. I’ve chosen this steps instead of buying one. It was pleasure giving the rebirth to the old tools.
