I wanted to see the place before I came in to Okayama.<\/p>\n

We went around northern Okayama to see our new place. In the end we decided to start at Nobu’s grandma’s place in Takakura.<\/p>\n

The place is surrounded by bamboo forest a little high up on the hill through rice fields. When Nobu came to check here a week ago there were so much bush that he couldn’t see the house itself.<\/p>\n

This place was empty so many years so it seemed lonely. But I could hear the light wind blew high on the bamboo and that made me feel good.<\/p>\n

\u30ce\u30d6\u304c\u30c1\u30a7\u30fc\u30f3\u30bd\u30fc\u3067\u7af9\u3092\u5207\u308a\u3001\u79c1\u306f\u9248\u3067\u679d\u8449\u3092\u843d\u3068\u3057\u3066\u3044\u3063\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n

Nobu had the idea what to do while we were here. First of all we need to cut down some of bamboos to allow wind come through.<\/p>\n

The west side and the north side of bamboos need to reduce and he want the east side to revive back to the natural forest once it was there.<\/p>\n

Winter is the beat season to cut down the bamboos. Nobu cut bamboos with chainsaw and I cut the branches.<\/p>\n

Leaving about a meter of bamboo that’s the key! If you leave it like that in winter then the roots can’t tell if it’s worth sending the nutrient or not. When the spring comes the roots send the nutrient as much as it could but that goes out from the cuts. Eventually it gets out of energy and die. It takes about two, three years but the most effective way to treat bamboos.<\/p>\n

We cut more than two hundreds of them taking a week of work. We’ll make bamboo deck for our tent site and burn it to make bamboo charcoal as well as we want to try creating bamboo blooms and baskets.<\/p>\n

Bamboo was once necessities for our life but now just glowing wildly and most of us think useless. But nothing is useless especially in nature. We’re happy to use them along our life here.<\/p>\n

Nobu said we need to cut one thousand more…it takes years for us to done. Through this exercise I got used to use a nata knife.<\/p>\n

The trunk turned into chairs and the rest became firewood’s.<\/p>\n

The last two days we worked on the west side. Bamboos were so dense that cutting them was difficult. Need an experience to do these work Which we were experience on the way. Finally we created a small clear spot. It was hard but something we could tell the difference was good enough.<\/p>\n

There were a little flat place in the middle of the hill where probably a hut once stood. Nobu said we can build a guest hut here with good view in-front.<\/p>\n

I lied down on bamboo bed looking up the sky high up through branches. It was a beautiful place.<\/p>\n
